Risk transfer
Licensed, bonded, and insured
Basalt is a licensed, bonded, and insured Washington general contractor carrying commercial general liability, automobile liability, and Washington stop-gap employer’s liability coverage.
Certificates of insurance are issued the same business day on request, and we routinely provide additional insured, primary and non-contributory, and waiver of subrogation endorsements as required by prime contractors and owners. Project-specific payment and performance bonds are available through our surety; we have also completed state public works contracts under retainage held in lieu of bond where the contract allowed it.

Owned fleet
Excavators fitted with Steelwrist tiltrotators, support trucks, dump trucks, and attachments for trenching, grading, utility excavation, and confined-site work. One machine does the work of several, with less handwork and less ground disturbance — projects finish sooner and at lower cost.

Workforce structure
An owner-directed crew: management and estimating with field coordination responsibility, field operations and equipment operation, and specialty subcontractors and additional field staff scaled to match contract requirements.
This structure is deliberate. It keeps quality, schedule, safety, and field decisions under direct owner control, and it lets Basalt bid work that larger organizations price with more overhead than the job needs.
Geographic coverage
Based in Ellensburg at the intersection of I-90 and I-82, which puts most of Central Washington inside a 90-minute drive. Work outside this area is considered where mobilization can be justified by the scope.
